Cognitive–behavioral therapy (CBT) group therapy setting involves addressing the deviant thoughts, impulses, and beliefs of offenders that lead them to engage in antisocial behaviors.

CBT programs include elements that seek to help offenders correct their deviant thoughts and impulses by practicing opportunities to model and engage in prosocial and problem solving skills and behaviors. Client work includes building a trusting therapeutic alliance which allows for insight, accountability, and action.

In addition, this program incorporates psychoeducational components to assist with helping client to develop healthier lifestyles that include developing healthy support networks and engaging in prosocial activities.
